This 1975 catalog marks one of the biggest variety of train items ever in the COX line.  New for '75 are two locomotives (F-3A and GP-9) and the Trainscapes line of action accessories.

The catalog is interesting as it is populated by a combination of handmade prototypes.  The GP-9 models displayed include what looks to be a handpainted Championship Trails example.  The production run models are lettered Championship Train, not Trails, and this is the only year this Trails model is found.  On pages 34 and 35, you'll find what appears to be a typical production run example Santa Fe GP-9 at the top of the page powering the American Freight Express.  Look closely though at the Santa Fe GP-9 at the head of the Night Frieght on the lower portion of these pages.  This second Santa Fe GP-9 is a prototype example and differs from the production models.  Both F-3A models on pages 34 and 35 are prototypes.  Notice the Army example carries roadnumber 97 and neither it nor the Chessie have slots in their sides and their pilots are not as open as the COX production models would show.

The Athearn-made COX items that had been sold since 1972 are down to only a Southern Pacific Alco PA-1 found on page 37 and four companion Daylight passenger cars on page 38.  These are the last of the Athearn-made items to be found in a COX catalog.
