An interesting mix of auto racing and railroading, the "Championship Trails"(Cat.No.6097) set is introduced in 1975.
Pictured above is the 1976 version renamed "Championship Train"(Cat.No.6098). This set differs from the 1975 'Trails'
set by name and one car. The 1975 set included the Flat Car with Truck, Trailer & Race Car(Cat.No.6151-1).

From the 1975 catalog, here's the GP-9 lettered for "Championship Trail" and labeled such. In the 1976 catalog,
COX calls it "Championship Train" and both years this loco carries the same catalog number of 6113-7. Samples examined
have been lettered 'Train' and not 'Trail,' though boxes are labeled 'Trail' and not 'Train.' Did you get that all straight?
Apparently COX didn't.
Following COX's exit from the HO-scale train market around 1980, the majority of the Championship Trails items found themselves
available again. AHM(Associated Hobby Manufacturers) and Model Power have sold various pieces of the rolling stock from this
COX set. Though neither marketed under the name used by COX.
