Brown Box Era HO-Scale Trains
55 Piece Scenic City
Listed by
TYCO in the 1973-74 and again in the 1974-75 catalogs is the 55-piece Scenic City accessory. A set of four 11" x 14"
full color cardstock sheets made up the 55-piece Scenic City. The sheets are pre-cut and the flat items are removed
and folded into the various structures and signs. This item was listed with a retail price of $2.50.

Comparing the actual sheets with the image shown on the TYCO envelope that made
up the 55-piece Scenic City package and again with with image presented in the two catalogs, none match each
other. All appear to have the same items, but the decoration differs. For example, TYCO shows one of the billboards
in the catalog image to feature the McDonald's logo. That is not included in the actual set of billboards. The
envelope shows a billboard with nothing but the Consolidated Foods Brown Box Era black TYCO logo, that is not the TYCO billboard
found in the actual set. Further, the buildings on the envelope image are labeled TYCO, while the building names on
the actual set carry TYCO's hometown of Woodbury Heights. It is not known if there are variations to the 55-piece
Scenic City, but it is certainly very possible.
