catalog. As was the company's practice at the time, the set's stock numbers give away the year of release. These
1963-64 sets are numbered in the 6300-series for '63.
It is important to note that the sets included here are only those
found in the 1963-64 TYCO catalog. Many department stores, such as Sears or JCPenney, often cataloged sets might be
unique with respect to their contents and/or stock numbers and are not included in TYCO's annual catalog.

TYCO cataloged variations to a number of train sets in the 1963-64 catalog. Generally,
the set's name changes with the change to the motive power and caboose roadname. This set is listed in the catalog as
being offered in three versions, all appearing to be called Burlington Express. The set had a GP20, called in the catalog
the "glamour gal" or diesel locos, pulling a Refrigerator Car; Tank Car; Operating Covered Hopper; Gondola; Skid Flat with
Pipe Load; and an 8-wheel Caboose. The set retailed for $24.98 according to the 1963-64 catalog.

TYCO has three variations to this set in the 1963-64 catalog. A Pennsylvania Railroad
example is illustrated and it is the Eastern Special. Similar contents, but with Santa Fe loco and caboose made for
TYCO's Western Special (No.T6302B); while Canadian National power and caboose created the Dominion Special (No.T6302C) in
TYCO's line. TYCO lists the value of the set's components at $23.32, the set's retail price was $14.98.

TYCO offered a handful of train sets that had the same basic contents, but differed with respect
to roadname for the power and caboose and the set's title. The 1963-64 Merchandiser West set featured a Union Pacific
0-4-0 and caboose; the counterpart Merchandiser East (No.T6303A) set had a New York Central 0-4-0 and caboose with the
same contents. The set retailed for $14.98 in 1963.

This TYCO set included a pair C&O dressed F9A units (one powered and one non-powered)
pulling an Operating Hopper Car; Stock Car; Chemical Tank Car; Skid Flat Car with Pipe Load and 8-wheel Caboose. The
set's retail was $24.98 in 1963. A set with the same contents, but with Santa Fe power and caboose was also in the TYCO
line in '63 called Blue Bird West (No.T6306B).
